FAQ
Questions that come up before you engage.
Every operation depends on the product, origin/destination, documents and rules in force.
What is customs clearance in practice?
It is the act that releases goods for use in the domestic market after the declaration is registered, taxes are paid or guaranteed, and the checks required by the channel are completed. Until then the cargo stays under customs control.
Why does one shipment take longer than another?
The usual causes are risk parametrization for inspection, mismatch between documents and goods, a licence required from another agency, a dispute about tariff classification, and outstanding payment. None of it is luck: it follows from what was declared and what was prepared before shipment.
Does a red channel mean something is wrong?
It does not. It means documentary and physical examination of the goods under the criteria applicable to the declaration; the grey channel follows a special control procedure. Neither one, by itself, indicates an infringement.
Who signs the clearance of my cargo?
Representation in customs clearance involves a qualified professional where the activity requires it. Scope is set in the contract: whenever execution depends on a legal qualification, it is carried out by a duly qualified professional or partner, with responsibilities defined.
